CORNING, Tehama County — November 6, 2026. Corning’s November 3 municipal election asked voters to choose between Robert Snow and Jose “Chuy” Valerio for mayor, while filling two separate City Council seats. The Tehama County Elections Office’s qualified candidate materials identify both mayoral nominees and council candidates. Local television reporting described the race for mayor as tight immediately after Election Day, but California58 has not independently verified a more recent numerical candidate tally from the official county results system. We are therefore not inventing a lead, percentage or winner.
Two candidates for mayor
Snow is identified in the election materials as a plant supervisor and current mayor; Valerio is identified as a Realtor. The two candidates represent a distinct mayoral election, not a county Board of Supervisors seat. The candidate-source guide compiles official filings and other public references; voters can consult it alongside the county’s own original documents.
Two city council seats
The qualified candidate list names David L. Demo, the incumbent, and Stefano “Steve” Miraglia for the two seats. An election with the same number of named candidates as seats is different from a contested four-candidate race. The legally determined outcome and any write-in votes still require the official county reporting and canvass, not assumptions from candidate filing lists.
Why the city offices matter
Corning’s municipal government makes decisions on local spending, streets, community services, development and public projects through its statutory powers. The mayor’s authority and responsibilities should be interpreted under the city’s actual governance rules, not extrapolated from how larger California cities govern themselves.
What the election office still must do
Tehama election officials must validate lawful additional mail and provisional ballots, reconcile records and complete required checks before certifying the count. Residents can look for later reports and official statements on the county elections page. For other Tehama questions, read our county supervisor salary measure report.
